As part of the 98th Academy Awards to be held in 2026, the selection calendar for Turkey’s nominee for the “Best International Feature Film” category has been determined. This year, the process will be carried out by the Cinema Film Producers’ Professional Association (SE-YAP) on behalf of the Cinema Professional Associations Power Union.
Films that were/will be commercially released between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025 are eligible to be nominated. In accordance with Academy Awards (OSCAR) rules, the film must have been screened for commercial purposes for at least seven consecutive days.
For films to be evaluated by the Selection Committee, the application form and a password-protected online screening link must be submitted (to the SE-YAP email address) by Friday, June 27. Producers of the applying films may also organize special screenings for members of the Turkey Oscar Selection Committee until Thursday, July 10, 2025.
The Turkey Oscar Selection Committee consists of representatives from the following professional organizations: Anatolian Cinema and Television Professionals Association (ASİTEM), Cinema Actors Professional Association (BİROY), Documentary Filmmakers Association (BSB), Film Producers Professional Association (FİYAB), Screenwriters and Dialogue Writers Professional Association (SENARİSTBİR), Cinema and Television Work Owners Professional Association (SETEM), Turkish Cinema Work Owners Professional Association (SESAM), Cinema Film Producers Professional Association (SE-YAP), Cinema Work Owners Professional Association (SİNEBİR), Television and Cinema Film Producers Professional Association (TESİYAP), as well as the Contemporary Cinema Actors Association (ÇASOD), Film Directors Association (FİLM-YÖN), Cinema Workers’ Union (SİNE-SEN), Film Critics Association (SİYAD), Cinema Actors Association (SODER), and representatives from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema.
The Turkey Oscar Selection Committee will determine Turkey’s nominee for the Academy Awards (OSCAR) “Best International Feature Film” category during its July meeting through a closed voting procedure. The film selected by majority vote will be announced no later than the end of July.
