Launched in 2014 by SEYAP with the support of the General Directorate of Cinema under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Festivals in Istanbul project aims to present new Turkish productions that have not yet had their world or international premieres to programmers of A-category international film festivals, and to increase the number of Turkish films featured in these festivals.

Within the scope of the project, programming directors responsible for the competition and official sections of leading international film festivals and film markets are invited to Istanbul. Newly produced Turkish films are screened for them, and industry events are organized with the participation of these programmers.

Through this initiative, films selected by programmers gain opportunities for international screenings, contributing to the global recognition of Turkish cinema. At the same time, the project enables producers and distributors to develop international collaborations.

New Turkish Films, a sub-program of the Festivals in Istanbul project, aims to share our fundamental commitment to promoting and expanding cinematic talent in its various forms by showcasing the narratives of Turkish cinema — in all their diversity, originality, and richness — through leading film festivals and programs around the world.

The New Turkish Films program supports both established and emerging Turkish directors and producers by providing information and guidance to facilitate their access to international events, showcases, and opportunities.
